Payment of child maintenance and other maintenance payment
You will not receive the child maintenance payment until we’ve received the payment from the maintenance payer.
The payment date will vary
The payment deadline for the maintenance payer is the 25th each month, but we usually pay you as soon as we receive the money.
The date for payment to the maintenance recipient depends on
- the date on which the maintenance payer pays
- the number of non-working days between receiving payment and payout
- the time it takes for your bank to transfer the amount to your account
We need the correct account number
When we pay you, we use the account number you’ve registered with NAV.
If you’ve not registered your account number with NAV, payment will take longer.
-
If you do not have a Norwegian account, we can pay to an account abroad. In this case, we need the following signed documentation from you:
- name
- address
- IBAN*/bank account
- SWIFT number/BIC address*
- bank code*
* gjelder enkelte land
Er du usikker på om bankkontoen din har IBAN-nummer, SWIFT-nummer/BIC-adresse eller bankkode, kan du kontakte banken din.
Detailed information about the payment
If you want detailed information about the payment of the maintenance payment, you must log in to your online bank. You’ll not be able to see these details in your phone bank app. The payment will be registered as being from the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten).
Annual statement for maintenance recipients
You’ll receive an annual statement within 15 February that shows all maintenance payments for the previous year. Maintenance payment is not taxable income.
The annual statement for paid child maintenance will be sent in the child’s name.
