- About advance child maintenance payment (i Norwegian only ).
When will the maintenance be paid?
The deadline to pay child maintenance is the 25th each month. The date on which you receive the maintenance, can vary.
If you’ve not received the child maintenance payment and you’ve been granted advance child maintenance payment, you’ll receive it in the beginning of the following month.
Consequences if the maintenance payer does not pay
We’ll follow this up for you, but please note that this process takes time.
If the maintenance payer does not pay, we’ll send a reminder the following month.
If the maintenance is still not paid following this reminder, we’ll send both a second reminder and a notification of enforced collection to the maintenance payer.
If you’ve not received any maintenance payments after the maintenance payer has received reminders, we can carry out enforced collection of the maintenance payment.
We’ll first consider attachment of earnings on salary or benefits the maintenance payer receives.
When attachment of earnings is carried out, the maintenance payer must have sufficient funds for cost of living expenses and other necessary expenses. Your finances as a maintenance recipient will not be a part of this assessment.
If it’s not possible to carry out attachment of earnings in the maintenance payer’s salary or benefits, we’ll consider other measures for enforced collection. This could, for example, be to place a distraint on real property, moveable property and other assets.
