Receiving child maintenance and other maintenance payments

The Collection Agency for Child Support and Overpaid Benefits is responsible for the collection of maintenance claims on behalf of you as a recipient. NAV (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) determines the maintenance payments.

Not received child maintenance

If you’re entitled to maintenance payments and have not received payments, we can follow up on your behalf. You may be entitled to advance child maintenance payment.
Did you receive too much maintenance payment?

If you’ve received too much maintenance, the payer may apply to offset the overpaid amount against future maintenance payments.
When the child is over 18

Maintenance debt when the child has turned 18, and the child’s right to maintenance payments in upper secondary school after turning 18.
Maintenance payments from abroad

When the maintenance payer lives abroad, we try to collect claims in the same way as in Norway. We can ask for assistance from foreign authorities to collect the claim.
