The tax return is sent out up to and including 4 April. We’ll send you an email or text message when yours is ready to be checked.
Once you have submitted your tax return, we need to process it and prepare a tax assessment. Most people receive the tax assessment notice between April and June, while others have to wait until autumn.
Unfortunately, we cannot give you a specific date for when you’ll receive your tax assessment notice. You’ll be notified.
Underpaid tax
If you have underpaid tax you’ll receive an invoice with payment information well before the due date. You do not have to wait for the invoice to pay. If you can, you should pay before 31 May. Then you do not have to pay interest. You can pay what you can right away, and then pay little by little until the deadline. That way, you can create your own repayment plan.
If you have underpaid tax, this is usually because not enough tax has been deducted during the year. Avoid underpaying your tax next year by checking the numbers in your tax deduction card for 2025.
Tax refunds
If you are due a tax refund, the amount will be paid after your tax assessment is ready. We’ll let you know when your tax assessment is ready.
To receive payments from the Tax Administration, you must have registered an account number. and that it’s correct. Check that you’ve registered an account number and that it's correct.
You can check which deductions you’re entitled to by using our deduction wizard.
If you have joint loans with someone, your loans and interest on loans will be devided equally between the co-borrowers.
If you’ve sold, inherited, or rented out a residential property, you must check whether to enter this in your tax return. Check the guidance to find out what applies to you:
The taxable value of your residential property is calculated based on its location, area, year of construction, and type of property. Check that the information about the residential property is correct. If you think that the taxable value is too high, you can reduce it, but then you must attach an appraisal, valuation or similar.
If the taxable value is missing from your tax return, you must add the missing information (area and year of construction).
