Why am I receiving this error message
You have specified a 7-digit occupation code which does not exist in Statistics Norway’s directory of occupations.
You may have received the error message because you have:
- forgotten a digit
- made a mistake when entering a digit
- entered three zeroes as the last three digits
Do I have to correct the error
Yes, the a-melding contains errors and/or omissions which you must correct.
You must correct the error by the deadline for submitting the a-melding for the calendar month in which you received the error message.

How to correct the error
- Check the occupation code you used and change it to a valid number. You will find valid occupation codes in the Directory of Occupations (only available in Norwegian) at ssb.no.
- Submit the a-melding when you have corrected the error. If you use a payroll system, check with your system supplier if you are not sure how to make corrections in your system.
Example
A university submits an a-melding for February containing information on the occupation code 2310000 for Torbjørn, who is in ordinary employment as a lecturer at the university.
The university receives error message MAGNET_EDAG-115 B because 2310000 does not exist in Statistics Norway’s directory of occupations.
